As any local Whistler Blackcomb local will tell you fresh snow on the hill doesn't last long, at Blackcomb Powder Cats it lasts all season. With only 12 people skiing over 4,000 acres daily, tracks get filled in by storms long before we find ourselves lapping the same runs. Fresh, deep powder all winter long, no lift lines, and never any hard packed moguls underneath.

No Fly Days?
Blackcomb Powder Cats runs in all weather conditions, if its snowing hard up the hill it usually means even more epic powder, and our snow cats eat that stuff for breakfast! High winds, so what! Unlike heliskiing we don't get shut down by the adverse weather conditions, with cat skiing you are playing the odds, ensuring that epic trip you planned is more likely to go. Don't get stuck in the resort because helicopters can't fly, come with us up the Brandywine for fresh tracks no matter how snowy or windy it is.

Getting Ready -
We highly recommend renting or borrowing the fattest powder skis / powder specific snowboard you can lay your hands on. Your day will be so much more enjoyable being kept afloat by saavy ski technology, and your legs will thank you for it tomorrow too. If you have your own skis / snowboard give it a little TLC and get a nice fresh hot wax, again you will enjoy it just that bit more getting up some more speed and surfing ontop of that deep stuff. And don't forget to charge your cameras, there will be plenty of opportunity to stop and take a few pictures, and getting some footage of the day will only help you relive the experience when you get home, in front of your jealous friends, who just rode icy pistes all day.

On the day -
Ensure you set your alarm so you wake up nice and early for the 7:30am meet and 8:00am departure, the rest of your group won't hesitate to leave without you with the pospect of epic powder runs all day. Dress appropriately for the weather, just like on the ski hill we will be in both high alpine and lower gladed areas, so the best bet is to layer up and ditch excess ones in the cat if you get too hot. Stay energized and hydrated throughout the day with the sandwiches, soups, cookies and drinks we load up into the cat, this will make sure once you jump out at the top you will be in good shape to shred down the next run.
